I just installed the real, authentic, genuine, 200 proof, bona fide, official, legit, veritable, trustworthy, twenty-four carat, pure, definitive, cannon, original, verified, Java. And the sdk. All I had to do was type:
sudo pacman -S jre
sudo pacman -S jdk
I didn't have to crawl all over the gutter of the internet piecing stuff together and enabling rogue, underground, unsupported, "proprietary" and contraband repositories to slip it onto my computer, either. And arch linux didn't fight back and fuck me over by also installing the open source shit java behind my back. Also, Arch didn't pull some stunt with this "alternatives" bullshit, where not using the open source java feels like you're "opting out" of the rape scanners the TSA runs at airports.
Seriously though, this is awesome. Arch linux lets you do what you want with your own computer. All you have to do is look it up on the wiki. I didn't have to spend an hour searching the internet and reading tons of forum posts full of nerds either expounding their usless opinions on which java someone should use, or responding to someones question by not answering it and telling them they should search the web. Searching the web is overrated, because the first few spots are invariably a couple posts where someone asks a question and some nerds don't answer it but instead say "STFW! Geez, the answer is right here on page 53 of the search results!"
Really. I'm amazed. I'm actually not used to an operating system doing what I want. Like, what am I going to do for the next three hours now that I don't have to wrestle with my computer?
