On Productivity, Part 3

Most of the productivity research and/or blogs I'm reading either rely on anecdotal evidence, the authors personal opinions, or empirically measure programmer output in lines of code.  Lines of code.  At my best--those changes I've made that I was most proud of--my "lines of code" was negative.  Because I had removed a bunch of stupid shit that was weighing the project down.

Some studies/evidence has compared programmers to each other for the exact same task, such as a university assignment.  This seems pretty awesome.  Unfortunately, it makes it hard for a single person to test modifications to their own productivity.

For now, I'm going to go with the super scientific emotional measurement:  do I feel like I'm more productive now?
